Export to the UK: find the companies already importing your product
Atlantos shows you which British companies import your product, month by month, starting from HMRC’s official customs data. Then you contact them yourself, for free, or ask the Chamber of Commerce to introduce you.
Who really buys your product in the UK
Every month HMRC, the UK customs authority, publishes which companies imported goods under each commodity code. Atlantos starts from these lists, links each company to the UK company register (Companies House) and to its website, and suggests importers, wholesalers and distributors with a score and the reason for each. On the 11 products measured in October 2026, 9 of the first 10 buyers suggested really import the product (source: HMRC customs data).
Your product’s UK market, in numbers
- How much the UK imported under your commodity code in the last 12 months, and whether demand is growing.
- Italy’s share and the competing countries.
- The duty set by the UK tariff (UK Trade Tariff).
- The main markets in the world for the same product (UN Comtrade).
How it works, in four steps
- Describe the product in one sentence: we suggest the commodity code (HS) and you confirm or change it.
- Read the UK market analysis.
- Go through the buyers, each with its company register record and the reason it fits.
- Contact them from their website, for free, or ask the Chamber of Commerce to introduce you (Match plan, 5 introductions a month included).
What you need to export to the UK after Brexit
- Export and import customs declarations: almost every company uses a customs broker.
- EORI number: an EU one for the Italian exporter, a GB one for the UK importer.
- Duty: under the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement many EU-origin goods enter at 0% if they meet the rules of origin and origin is declared, for example on the invoice. Without proof of origin the full duty applies.
- Import VAT: normally paid by the importer in the UK (standard rate 20%), often through postponed VAT accounting.
- Food: border health checks by risk category and, on prepacked food, the name and address of a UK food business operator on the label.
- Northern Ireland follows different rules (Windsor Framework).
These are general pointers: always confirm them with a customs broker or the Chamber of Commerce.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I find UK importers for my product?
- Start from the product’s commodity code: every month HMRC publishes the UK companies importing goods under that code. Atlantos reads these lists, links them to Companies House and to the companies’ websites, and shows you who imports most consistently, with the reason each one fits.
- Which products does it work for?
- Goods that have a commodity code and that the UK imports: from food and drink to fashion, from furniture to machinery. Companies offering services have their own path.
- Is the data up to date?
- HMRC’s importer lists come out every month. Atlantos refreshes the importers of every code in use at least every 30 days and repeats the search for active products every week.
- Who introduces me to the buyers?
- The Chamber of Commerce: it checks the request, writes to the company and puts you in touch. The first contact is included in the Match plan; any further Chamber services (help with the negotiation, fairs, trade missions) are agreed and paid separately.
- How much does it cost?
- The trial is free, with no card and even without signing up. Explore costs €39 a month and shows every result; Match costs €249 a month and adds 5 introductions a month through the Chamber of Commerce. For Chamber members Explore is included and the other plans cost half. Prices exclude VAT.
